The Search for Ultimate Energy 2

I commend the Americans on their efforts to use Tidal energy. In northern Australia, as you will see below, we have Tides that are almost 40′… you got to be careful in these areas where you tie your boat up to, or you could find it underwater or hanging from it’s mooring lines.
Anyway, you can see the high water mark on the rock walls in the video below… can you imagine the power you could generate with the energy in that water? Sure you mightn’t be able lay down power lines back to the cities, but you may be able to say use that power on site, to produce hydrogen or drive a factory that produce solar cells and turbine generators, you know it helps if the manufacturing costs are offset by free or even cheap power.
The reason why they don’t, is because as I often say, “When your snout’s in the trough, the rim’s your horizon.”

Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM)

It’s probably the Engineer in me that loves this stuff… these machines are awesome and I’m very impressed with the way Malaysia solved their traffic and flood mitigation problems.
This initially is going to sound a little hypocritical, when I mention that I was a draft dodger. No it wasn’t that I wouldn’t fight to protect Australia… I just wasn’t going to be involved in propping up a corrupt South Vietnamese government. Actually, I’m in favor of National Service… not necessarily in the military service, but more for full Citizenship Rights; including tax benefits.
Now the National Service which I would like to see implemented in Australia, is I believe, more along the lines of Norway’s National Service, where people who had ideological issues with the military, could opt instead for positions within other government organization or on national projects.
What has this to do with TBMs? Well, when I see these machines, I see an opportunity for Australia to carry out large long term projects. Projects such as using a variety of these TBMs to rebuild our dilapidated and wasteful storm water and drainage systems, which would then incorporate power, gas, and water mains… that would get rid us of those godawful and dangerous power lines, thereby reducing the numbers of people killed and horribly injured on the roads (and save countless billions of dollars in the long run). It would also reduce the likelihood of increasing power outages from the probable increasingly frequent and violent storms caused by climate change… and it would allow us importantly, to make use of whatever storm water we get.
No doubt I’ll be shouted down by a variety of people, but I don’t see any government being likely to under take such huge projects, those morons cant see past the next election, and their sole method of insuring they win, is pleasing big business, who likewise are short sighted and can’t see past their own bottom lines.
If I was Emperor, after I’d rid us of most of the Lawyers (spit on the ground) and politicians; I’d run the country by referendums like Switzerland. The first thing I’d suggest, is that we maximize the funding to the universities, collages and schools, get them to come up with the necessary alternative plans needed to run Australia… part of my idea is to reward participants for their two years of National Service, by giving them a fully funded University or Collage education, or conversly a low interest business loan or home loan. A dumb country only serves the elite few, whilst an educated country serves the majority… you either spend money on jails or schools.
By doing this we could undertake national projects that could extend for decades and which would normally never be undertaken by governments… or businesses. We could do the things that politicians are now totally incapable of doing, and perhaps gain a few fringe benefits, such as engendering some national pride and camaraderie, which I’m sure would come when people from differing walks of life work together, as they did on the rare but incredibly successful Snowy Mountain Scheme… anyway I’m raving again and my finger is getting sore from typing, so enjoy the other clips.

Shocking World by Monsanto - A must see!
July 7, 2008
Video: Google Video
I’m not going to add much to the comments accompanying this video from Google Video -
“On March 11 a new documentary was aired on French television - a documentary that Americans won’t ever see. The gigantic bio-tech corporation Monsanto is threatening to destroy the agricultural biodiversity which has served mankind for thousands of years”.
It’s Food as a weapon and another thing that greedy sociopaths would want to control.

Sometimes strange contraptions can teach us unexpected things. If I wait a little longer, maybe it will come to me… however, like most thoughtful art, I like to look at it, even if I don’t understand it. But there’s no mistaking the ingenuity of these pieces of Art, so Theo’s accomplished one important thing for Art, which is, it has caused me to think about it.

Regenerative Drive System (RDS)
June 20, 2008
This morning whilst listening to our public national radio station, I heard a report of our current Labor government’s removal of some government grants.
Initially rather than go on with my usual diatribe about governmental and banking ignorance and or corruption, I’ll quote directly from our brilliant; despite the previous Howard’s government’s attempts to screw it, ABC Radio National.
Permo-Drive: Commercial Ready grants scrapped
“Now more on how the federal government has scrapped the Commercial Ready program, which provided funding, through dollar for dollar grants, to innovative and fast-growth businesses. Over the years, the scheme had provided more than $700 million in grants and its withdrawal has left 220 Australian businesses dangling, with applications worth from 250,000 dollars up to 5 million dollars pending.
Well, one of those businesses relying on a Commercial Ready grant was Permo-Drive, a company based in Ballina, New South Wales. They’ve developed a remarkable hybrid drive system for trucks and they have 20 demonstrators ready to roll along with huge interest from trucking companies here as well as overseas, including from the US Army. Now the company has written to its 1,900 shareholders to say that without the grant money, the company is no longer viable and will go into liquidation early next month.” ABC Radio National (AM)
Can you believe it? I mean Australia is blessed with a disproportionately large number of brilliant inventors, with an equally large number of famous inventions, yet we are ruled by I’m sure by a disproportionately large number of total morons with IQs lower than my pet rock it seems.
Before I go any further here is a cut ‘n paste section from Permo-Drive’s website technology page complete with images.

For those considering Solar Power for their homes, I believe that this video is worth the watch.
A few considerations I’d like to make to help you make a decision:-
* The price of electricity over the next say 20 year life of your system is likely to at least double.
* Many areas now offer a better price for your excess power… in the impressive state of South Australia, they offer twice the going rate.
* Much of your electrical equipment may last longer, since you inverter will generally put out a more stable power.
* When the power goes out… your lights etc. wont.
High Cost of Medicine - Part 1 of 7 - Marketing Disease Pushing Drugs
May 26, 2008
Video: YouTube
Let me get my head around this, drug companies make drugs that kill and injure literally millions of people a year throughout the world, are legal. Whereas a plant which you can grow in your backyard, that will help cure glaucoma, help cancer victims get over their radiation treatment; which often kills more patients than the cancer. In fact this plant is seen by many as a cure for many cancers, and it can ease the suffering of Lupus & MS etc. etc.
Even though this plant’s seeds are one of the most nutritious food sources known to man, containing several amino acids not readily available elsewhere. What a plant that produces the world’s best paper, some of the best all purpose fabrics, insulation and building materials. A plant which is perhaps the quickest growing bio-fuel producer on the planet. A plant that does not require insecticides nor exotic fertilizers and chemicals. A plant, a plant! that has been grown and used till the 30’s, for something like 10,000 years and has never ever ever ever killed anybody, is illegal.
HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa… you are kidding aren’t you, I mean, who’s running this planet anyway, Bankers, Petroleum, Chemical and Drug companies or something?
Oh beam me up Scotty, there seems to be no signs of intelligence on this planet.
CFR Council Of Foreign Relations How They CONTROL THE MEDIA

The Net is just about the only source of information that’s not totally run by Big Business… for now, but I’m sure they are working on fixing that soon. Privatization of the phone systems was the first step, using Pornography and Piracy will probably be the excuse they will use to fully censor and control the Net soon.
Plasma Light Bulb
May 15, 2008
Video: YouTube
Each miniature bulb is filled with inert argon gas, that turns to plasma when electricity is passed through it. The vast majority of this energy is converted into light rather than heat. These super-bulb produces 140 lumens per watt, that’s twice that of the high-end LEDs at 70 lumens per watt and 10X that of standard light bulbs in the dust at 15 lumens per watt.
Solar Industry needs workers
May 14, 2008

Photo: imageshack.us
A recent study by 2 community college researchers has suggested that California may need an extra 5,000 workers over the next year, to add to the existing 16,500 to 17,500 already employed in the solar industry in the state.
Although there will be jobs for salespeople and designers, the majority of the jobs will be on the roof doing installations, The industry desperately needs people to install rooftop solar arrays. “You don’t need a Ph.D. or a B.A. to get into this industry, It’s an opportunity to rebuild the working-class jobs that have been lost.”
The salaries available will vary from $31,200 per year for entry level installers, up to $60,000 for those more experienced in installations. The solar designers and engineers can expect to earn a median salary of $83,000.
PaleBluDot’s other author Beam has constantly suggested that people in timber or other environmentally disastrous industries can be retrained in industries such as Solar and Wind power generations. Sounds like there are going to be many opportunities for people to be transferred to the “green jobs” as renewable energy becomes a priority rather than just a minority.
