The Rick Simpson Story (Part 4 of 7)

The more I see of Rick Simpson’s story, the more disgusted I get with the Drug companies… how many people have their drugs killed, how many people’s lives have they ruined because of their greed. Yet we see Drug companies salespersons smiling at how much money they and their companies are making on Cancer ‘cures’, many of which actually cause people to die from the treatment.
And I’m not leaving the doctors out of this either, it may be edicts coming down from higher up, but it seems to me that some doctors have in investment in sickness rather than health, and either don’t want to look seriously at using Hemp Oil… or they are stupid enough to believe the outrageous lies told about medical Marijuana, or if you prefer, the Hemp plant.
The fact that some doctors smoke tobacco, drink too much and even indulge in using drugs illegally, shows that they are just human, and as such, prone to human foibles, such as being shown to being gutless, by not standing up to their own governing bodies and the government for their patients.
Wilkins Ice Shelf in Antarctica breaks apart
March 26, 2008

Antarctica’s Wilkins Ice Shelf is breaking apart. The latest break includes a section of ice 41 by 2.4 kilometres (25.5 by 1.5 miles), which broke off the Southwestern end. The collapse of this substantial section occurred on February 28th.
The movement of this ice led to disintegration of 414 square kilometres (160 square miles) of internal ice.
The Wilkins Ice Shelf is a large plate of permanent floating ice 1609 Kilometers (1,000 miles) south of South America and lies on the South Western Antarctic Peninsula.
This latest break has meant that a large part of the 12,950-square-kilometre (5,000-square-mile) shelf is only supported by a narrow 5.6-kilometer (3.5-mile) strip of ice.
The problem now posed is, if the ice retreats a little more than the likely hood of losing almost half the ice shelf is greatly increased.
“Wilkins is the largest ice shelf on West Antarctica yet to be threatened. This shelf is hanging by a thread,” echoed David Vaughan of the British Antarctic Survey, which contributed data on the break-up.

Only one more episode left folks. I’m sorry to say that I will never be able to effectively write or explain why everyone should have a go at Dungeons & Dragons… but I have done my best. Several, in fact most of the ‘guys’ I play with play on-line games such as World of Warcraft, the graphics are great but it’s never been of real interest to me.
I guess if I was to play an online game it would be EVE since I believe it is fare or challenging. The problem is, once you start you pretty much have to play no stop, or else you lose what you have gained. Also there is no real face to face contact, your not in the room together… not really.
Dungeons & Dragons can be put on hold for as long as you want… which makes it excellent for team building in business, when the work’s done the reward could be order a few pizzas and drinks, drag out the dice and miniatures and get into it, be child like and be inspired to use your imagination.

Well I would have expected better from the Canadian authorities… but then, they do now have a Conservative government, so I guess they are mono focused on ‘free enterprise’; that’s where fewer benefit but more are disadvantaged, and lies, bigotry and ignorance reign supreme.
Isn’t it typical, a few rednecks in suits, who probably drink & smoke (tobacco), using outrageous bully boy tactics with little or no regard for what’s moral. Doing the deeds of faceless stupid, ignorant, bigoted and hypocritical suited ‘old boys’, with their secret hand shakes, and oaths taken with trouser legs rolled up, white gloves on, hoods on heads and nooses around their necks… what a pathetic, corrupt, power mad, chauvinistic bunch of pedophile protecting parasites they are.
The point was made in this video clip about what happened to innocent until proven guilty? However, the problem is, Pot, Hemp, Marijuana or whatever you care to call it, is never judged on a level playing field. If it were it’d be tobacco and alcohol that would be illegal.
Hey Japanese whalers, where’s your honour ?

First, lets see a whale being treated as a friend (see video below)
Video: intrepidberkeleyexplorer via YouTube
The video above shows how humans can live in harmony with whales and any other friendly wild animals for that matter.
Now back to those greedy Japanese whalers.

Image: madmermaids.com
Japanese whalers and government, Just where is your honour?
Maybe you lost your honour in amongst the many millions of yen you are making in the name of research.
Japanese big business and government are not honorable, they are not whaling for research.
If these whale companies spent the same amount of money on building offshore fish farms as they did chasing whales through the Southern Ocean, then they would have themselves a constant renewable source of fish to eat. Salmon, Cod and Halibut are all good options for farming and the latest technology has made offshore fish farming much more viable.

The cover up of a story on the reports of Monsanto’s growth hormone in your milk.

Corporation’s willingness to tell blatant lies; whilst being protected by amoral Lawyers (spit on the floor), and their ability to bribe their way through government departments either by Lobbyists or directly, is something that should not be allowed to continue.
My personal view is Australia needs it collective heads read for not kicking this mongrel Monsanto out of our country period.

Hemp possibly cures Cancer, Tobacco probably causes Cancer… one is illegal whilst the other is legal, the question is. How do ‘they’ get away with it?
From this post ‘Today In Alternate History‘.
“In 1584, history’s most infamous drug dealer Sir Walter Raleigh was granted a patent to exploit the deadly tobacco narcotic in Virginia. Approximately 5.5 trillion cigarettes are produced globally each year by the tobacco industry, smoked by over 1.1 billion people, which is more than one-sixth of the world’s total population. In the year 2000, global smoking deaths reached 5 million making Raleigh the greatest mass murderer in history.”
Sir Walter Raleigh of England, in addition to his fame for establishing the first English colony in the New World, was also a respected writer and poet. Originally a favorite of Queen Elizabeth. However, Raleigh was later beheaded for treason in 1618.”
I guess future karma caught up with Walter… in advance.
Happy birthday tobacco companies… your time will come, though I’m still mystified as to how your executives got away with manifest barefaced lies uttered under Oath to The Grand Jury back in 1994… surely there aren’t two Laws, one for the rich and one for the poor, the colored and the ‘Pot heads’ who’s vice, unlike Tobacco, has NEVER been directly responsible, probably in what 10 or 20 thousand years, for a single death. mmm

I can’t help but like this guy, it’s great when you can work in your hobby or sport. The idea that he’ll have so much to play with when he retires cracks me up.
Personally I’ve never used such comprehensive sets, but that’s only because I have not had the opportunity.
Dungeons & Dragons is what you make it. Sure when I first found out about the game I thought. “Are you serious?” and “I got better things to do with my time.”… and to be honest most of the time I did, but there are few things I enjoy more when I’m with friends, than playing Dungeons & Dragons, and it fit’s in with all sorts of other activities as well.
If your involved with a group of friends in whatever field there is almost always time to kill, so why waste it by getting pissed or whatever. OK have a few drinks or whatever, but what’s wrong with catering for the child inside a little… or have you lost that ability, sad if you have. D&D is hard core fun, it involves tactics, being sometimes a little devious; without harming anybody, and it gives your imagination a good workout.
If your not going to do something because you think your too cool for it, boy, you are sooo wrong… your too big a fool if your that inhibited or self conscious, and you will be old before your time. Clock’s ticking.

I’m going to do another one of my serials here, this time on Medical Marijuana… but first a little personal story.
When I was 22 whilst riding my bike; which I’d ridden for three years without incident, I had a head on collision with a drunk driving a car; a drunk who was so drunk he could not stand. This drunk had apparently turned across a main road without indicating a turn. The collision was at a combined speed of about 100mph or 160kph.
Now it was an open speed limit road, there was a mile vision either side of the collision site, the sun was shining and I had my headlight and helmet on. Had it not been for an eyewitness I would have been charged, despite the fact that the driver was turning across the road and back into the golf club he was manager of.
My bike impacted the car with such force that it drove the car’s motor and gearbox into the front seat, and the car back into his lane… yet the officer attempted to blame me. Had it not been for the eyewitness and curious bystanders pointing out that the broken glass, mud from the cars guards etc were on my side of the road, I would have been blamed… I found out later that the driver was not booked for drunken diving, apparently because he and the police officer were Lodge mates.
Believe it or not I walked, well hobbled away from that accident, and although I remember nothing of the actual accident, I was told by the eyewitness when I contacted him to thank him, that I’d apparently flown over the car and landed on my back some 50 or 60 meters down the road.
Needless to say, after the accident I was pretty sore for quite awhile, however, months later my back was still killing me. The initial apparently disinterested doctors who treated, me basically just gave me some pills (Indocid at first then Bufferin), but they failed to inform me about the correct use of them, and they kept me on them for way too long.
It wasn’t until a a few years later that I got a reference from a friend to a good doctor; prior to my head-on I rarely visited a doctor. Anyway, eventually I got to see a very good specialist as well, he was one of those great old school doctors, and he actually rang; whilst I was in his surgery, one of the disinterested doctors and abused him regarding the ignorance and indifference he’d shown in the drugs he’d given me and which had destroyed my stomach lining all to no avail!
The end result was I was sent to a very good chiropractor and advised by my new doctors that I should ask some of my mates who smoked Pot and to “Give it a try”. I’ll point out that at the time, and despite the fact that I had gotten drunk only a couple of times in earlier years; mainly through peer pressure, I had become quite anti alcohol, tobacco and drugs. I was a serious competition Skydiver and considered such things antithetical to peek performance.
To say that Pot helped would be an understatement, it had non of the side effects of the other pharmaceutical drugs I’d been given. Pot would allow me a full nights sleep, it gave me back most of my mobility and the only side effect that was noticed was, I was perhaps more social and apparently more tolerant; I must admit I was a bit of a tyrannical captain. Though I did not lose my competitive spirit; I went on to win a further 3 state, 2 East Coast and a National championship, it was ironically the over use of alcohol amongst my team members that finally caused me to move from competitions to filming.
As for de-motivating people. Pot has I admit toned down my aggressively domineering and determined Attitude… slightly, and regarding the memory thing, well in Metallurgy I was 1 of 6 out of 123 that started Metallurgy with me, that finished in the minimum period, in fact 1 of the other 5, by his own admission only got through because I helped him.
I guess some might say, “Well it hasn’t seemed to have effected your ego.” Oh contraire, before I started smoking Pot I considered myself as one of the world’s worst winners, man if you were competing against me, or if you were on my team and screwed up you had me in your face till you either gave up or stopped screwing up.

D&D Experience 19 LARPs

I’ve not tried LARPs (Live Action Roll Playing), but I’ve talked to a few who have played it… personally it doesn’t appeal to me, but I can see how it might appeal to some.
In LARPs apparently it’s not uncommon to exchange the throwing of dice for a more convenient Paper, Rock and Scissors randomizing of the outcomes.
Personally the traditional Dungeons & Dragons has more appeal for me, it’s the comfort of being indoors, of having lots of books, using dice and having food and drinks at hand, it’s the convenience and the comforts of home that appeals to myself and I feel the majority of Dungeons & Dragons players… LARPs may be more of an occasional thing for some.
D&D Experience 18 Girls

Well speaking from my limited experience, the girls I have played Dungeons & Dragons with have been great, one in particular is fantastic at it, she bowled me over with her roll playing and I doubt if anybody would have considered her a geeky.
Dungeons & Dragons is very much an equal opportunity game and the ‘fair’ sex can have just as much fun playing a Rouge, Fighter or a Wizard… I’m at present a kick arse Monk, but I have a fondness for playing Sorcerers, nothing like a good old Lightning bold when your in a bind.
